The Adult Ministry at Park Lane Church of the Nazarene is an inspiration to our church fellowship. We enjoy Sports & Recreation Opportunities, Women’s and Men’s Ministries, and Prime-Timers events for adults over 50.
Sports & Recreation, Director Marilyn Griffy
The gym is reserved for open team volleyball every Wednesday night from 5pm to 6:45pm. You are welcome to join in. Opportunities for playing basketball and softball are also available.
Women’s Ministry, Director Kelly Mixon
The women gather for regular times of fellowship and devotion. They share seasonal studies, engage in service projects, and take an annual women’s retreat to great places like the Smoky Mountains!
Men’s Ministry, Director Rodney Adair
The men also gather on a regular basis, sharing in prayer and encouragement. They enjoy getting together for work days, eating big breakfasts, taking canoe trips, and putting on special Sunday evening events like our annual Ice Cream Social, Chili Cook-Off, or newly added event: the Luau!
Prime Timers, Director Frances Settle
The Prime Timers enjoy eating… frequently and in a variety of places. They share picnics on the river, gather at local eating spots, and travel to nearby towns for the pleasure of “breaking bread with glad and generous hearts!” Acts 2.42-47
Young people ages 13 – 18 are engaged in a variety of opportunities for Christian social interaction, worship, discipleship, and fun. Each week the NYI (Nazarene Youth International) share a Wed night Bible Study (7pm) in the Teen Room / Game Room where they can also play pool, foos-ball, ping-pong and watch music videos. They enjoy regular afterglows (sponsored events at families’ homes in the church for food and fun) on Sunday evenings, and take mini-trips around town.
Some big annual events are Teen Camp (held at Camp Garner Creek in Dickson, TN) and TNT @ TNU (“Top Nazarene Talent” held on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville).
Teen Bible Quizzing is a youth competition that encourages teamwork and Scripture memorization. Quizzers attend regular quiz meets and interact with youth from other Nazarene churches across the MidSouth District.
Exciting things are in store for Children’s Ministry. We are closing in on the start of a major remodeling project to establish a brand new Children’s Wing that will accommodate accessible and accountable space for Sunday School and Children’s Church. The 2000+ sq ft wing will be equipped with educational classrooms, bathroom facilities, a kitchen, and a 900 sq ft gathering space for child-friendly worship.
